Booth Space Application
Fairplay Bead & Fiber Show
August 9 & 10, 2008

Thank you for your interest in our seventh annual bead show with a wonderful addition of FIBER artists and dealers. With so many fiber artists including beads in their work and as many bead artists including fiber in their creations, the combination seemed like a natural.  The goal of this event is to create a venue where bead and fiber people can sell and trade supplies, ideas, tricks of the trade as well as sell their finished work. So we extend an invitation to bead artists, bead crafters and commercial bead dealers as well as fiber artists, and fiber dealers to participate in this event. Your target clientele will be buyers from the central Colorado area, tourist traffic, as well as other beaders and weavers, felters, and fiber artists. Advertising will be done through local media, ads in bead magazines, and posters in bead shops around Colorado. The show receives tremendous exposure at the Rocky Mountain Bead Society's Bead Bazaar that takes place at the end of April each year and is always excellent show as well. Word of mouth is the best advertising, so you can help out too by spreading the word.

This outdoor event will be located on Front St. in Fairplay Colorado August 9 & 10 2008, 10a.m. to 5p.m. Saturday and 10a.m. to 4p.m. Sunday.  All vendors will be responsible for their displays and cover. Be prepared for any kind of weather. The street is paved, so bring weights for canopies. If you will be selling your work or products, you must have a Colorado sales tax license and include a copy with your application. If you don't have a tax license, you can print a Colorado Dept of Revenue special event license HERE. The fee for the license is $8.00. Keep in mind that this is a SLOW process to get your tax number so you should plan on it taking six to eight weeks. All finished work must be your own. No commercial beaded or weaving items will be allowed.  Limited security is available but please don’t leave anything of value overnight.

Vendor spaces are on a first come-first serve basis. Sorry no refunds for cancellations. Special requests are welcome but not guaranteed. There is no rain date. We ask that there be no early tear downs either day. It never rains long and your customers and the tourists usually come back. Rain can actually be a good for business if you are prepared.

The town does not allow RV camping on town streets overnight. There is lots of camping nearby (or talk to me about helping with overnight security)  and the following lodging available in town:

  • Hand Hotel B&B 719-836-3595 (Sat. nite activities)
  • Fairplay Hotel 719-836-2565(walking distance)

Directions to Fairplay from Denver: take HWY 285 for an hour and a half, turn right on Hwy 9 (also our main st.) and turn left on 4th St. for one block which will put you on Front St. in Front of your check-in area.  From Colorado Springs: take HWY 24 just past Hartsel, turn right on HWY 9 for seventeen miles or until you get to the T intersection of HWY 285 and HWY9 and then turn right again.  Turn left where Hwy 9 picks up again like you were going to Breckenridge, then left on 4th St one block to the check-in site.

Weekend activities will include classes, free drawings for prizes, lampworking demonstrations and open torch for anyone to try, juried competition in the categories of beaded jewelry, sculptural beading, lampworking, and other bead work. A juried fiber competition is in the works...please check back here later. Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m., there will be a complimentary wine and cheese happy hour along with a spaghetti dinner at the Hand Hotel for those participating in the show.  Visitors attending the show are welcome to come to the dinner and participate in the evening activities with an admission fee of $5.00. Evening activities will include a bead exchange (bring one bead item wrapped) and the rest of the evening is yet to be determined.
